Well, Kyzer is watching a movie and Korben just went down for a nap, so I thought I would get this update done.
As I think most of you know, we have been thinking about moving to Idaho for a while now and knew that we would eventually end up there, we just weren't sure when was the right time to go. For a year now we have been feeling that we just needed to hurry and get the house finished and up for sale. So, all last year we worked really hard on getting the house all finished up and finally got it up for sale in november( about a week before thanksgiving ). We weren't looking to make any money off of it really, but because we got the First Time Home Buyers Credit, we had to pay that back. (for those who don't know, if you received the FTHBC and sold your house before 3 years of living in it, you had to pay back a portion of it, in our case we just had to pay any extra that we got out of the house. So after paying the realtor and all the closing cost and anything that was required to be fixed, the rest goes back to the FTHBC). So, in order for us to walk away without writing a check from our own pocket, we set our asking price to 149,995. In 3 weeks we had our first showing on the house, and everything went great! They loved the house and put an offer in on it within 2 days of the showing. We did have to counter offer because we would have had to write out a check for 1,600 out of pocket with their offer. Within a matter of a few hours our realtor called us and said that they had accepted the counter offer and signed the deal. YAY!!! We really could not believe how well everything went. Things got rolling right away. They got the engineers report done before Christmas, the appraisal done right after Christmas, and our well and septic test done about a week later. There were a couple routine things that were required by the engineer that we got taken care of and one miner thing with the well head that we fixed. Easy breazy! So everything is done and ready to close. Ben's last day of work is the 25th and we just set the closing date as the 27th. Yes, its all just one week away, crazy! We sold our truck, couch, and dining table set, we have just a couple other big things to get rid of and we should be set to go. My Aunt is shipping all of our stuff for us and we will be flying down. Our friend will be selling our car for us after we leave because Ben needs a way to get to work until then. So, a big THANK YOU to Julie and Jason for helping us out! You have truly saved us.
We are very excited to get to Idaho and be warm again! We will for sure miss Alaska, but NOT Fairbanks by any means. Yes, we will miss a few things like, friends, family, and TURTLE CLUB! ...But, we have never liked Fairbanks and are very excited to be getting out of here :)I'm sure it's not the most horrible place in the world, but it's not for us.
So long Fairbanks!!! HELLO IDAHO (AKA...HOME)!!! :)
